Malawi Flood Relief
Heavy storms and severe flooding in Malawi has caused a loss of electricity, damaged crops, destroyed many homes and has even taken precious lives.
We urge you to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing numerous challenges.
We ask too, in the spirit Paul wrote to the saints in Corinth, that by our abundance here in Pittsburgh we may aid those in need in Malawi.
We do not mean there should be relief for others and pressure on you, but it is a question of a fair balance between your present abundance and their need.
As it is written, "The one who had much did not have too much, and the one who had little did not have too little." 2 Corinthians 8:13-15
It is with gladness we consider the outpouring of love with which you will respond now, even as you have in times past.
Please visit the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) - Malawi Flooding web page for details regarding the ecumenical relief efforts and for specifically prayer needs.
To respond with a financial gift, individuals are encouraged to donate directly through PDA
and congregations may submit their contribution using the Remittance Form for Mission Contributions indicating the amount on line #10 (Disaster Relief) under Section D (General Assembly Special Offering/Programs)
as well as the project number, "DR0000158," and the project name, "Malawi Flooding." Please note the PDA project number and description on the check as well.
Regardless of method, we ask you to collect a special offering for the relief effort for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Congregations are also encouraged to add the PDA web address and information to their weekly bulletin.
